Short Update

I know it's been a while. I'm just finding it a little tricky managing time. You know, that whole "I work full time, with some overtime thrown in, and I'm also trying to write a book" thing. Yeah, it's keeping me pretty busy.

So I thought I'd just give a quick update on the book. I am still in the process of editing/rewriting my first novel, Never Upon A Time. I would say I'm about 75% done. I realized I needed to add some more scenes in order to remove some rocks from the stream of the story (you know, so it will flow better! (Not sure if that was even a pun, sorry (I just wanted the opportunity to have a parenthetical note inside a parenthetical note inside a parenthetical note))). I'm guessing by the time I finish editing, I'll have deleted a quarter of the first draft while adding a third more to the second.

While I am editing/rewriting my lovely wife, Annie, is slowly reading what I've written so far and correcting grammer and spelling as well as giving me suggestions. I say slowly because she, too, is busy (she works full time while she's working toward a masters). My plan is, after I finish, and then she finishes, I'll go through again and fix mistakes/take into consideration her suggestions. After that, I'm thinking of sending the book to another friend who's an English major and reads a lot of YA books. After I get feedback from her and adjust the story accordingly, then  I'll start trying to get an agent and publisher.

As you can see, it's going to take a little longer than I thought, and in the end I'll have read and re-read and rewritten the book half a dozen times. But I think that will make it an even more intriguing read. I'm excited with how it's looking so far, and I know it can be even better.

Thanks for the patience!
