|(Unrelated to the post...but here I am in Colorado!)|
Well, anyway, I finished up a sci-fi short story the other night. When I took a look at the word count, I saw it was 19,000 words long—which is much more a novella than a short story! I didn't even realize it was that long. I just looked at it and went, "Huh...how 'bout that..."
I'm thinking about doing another edit, then I'll start sending it out for publication. I've heard it's harder to get novellas published than short stories—and I haven't had much luck getting short stories published—but it'll still be fun. I think I might start at the top...I'll print the sucker out and send it to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction the old fashioned way (they only accept subs via snail mail).
I'm probably not going to post any stories to my blog, though. Sorry 'bout that. A few of the places I've submitted stories won't accept anything that's previously been on the internet—even if it was just on a blog that only gets 50 or so views per post. Although, after something gets published, the rights usually revert back to the author after a year or so. So maybe then I'll post some stories here...after TOR is done with them!
Well, that's all I've got for now.
